Season 25 of The Bachelor began on Monday, January 4th, with newcomer Matt James starring in the lead role. James was originally a part of Clare Crawley’s Bachelorette cast, but ABC announced last June that James would become the first black man to star as The Bachelor.

James is a 29-year-old real estate broker and entrepreneur from New York City, who previously played college football at Wake Forest. On Monday night inside the Bachelor Bubble, James will meet 32 women, all of whom will be vying for the coveted First Impression Rose.

This season of The Bachelor will feature a much younger cast than we just saw on the previous season of The Bachelorette. The oldest cast member is 32, the youngest is 21, and the average age is 25.8.
